Stop and shop 2/11/14

So i have decided to start blogging how i coupon as some of my friends keep asking me how i do it.
I am a stay at home mom and my goal is to spend $100 or less a week on groceries and maximize it as much as possible. This includes everything, diapers, personal needs ( shampoo, conditioner, female products, razors ect),laundry detergent, meats, anything we need eggs, milk, ect not just couponing stuff.I mainly shop between Stop & Shop, Market Basket and CVS. I will try to post my coupon finds as much as possible.
Last Month I spent $374 and saved $220.
Todays run was to stop and shop ... They double coupons that are under $.99...
So first off a few clarifications, the coupons on the circular can be stacked with manufacturers coupons and the same goes for the register printed coupons (catalina coupins) can also be stacked with manufacturers coupons too....
So i get one boston globes delivered a week and then my mother in law gives me hers so essentially 2 sets a coupins a week... I dont buy coupons either... I check coupons.com a few times a week to see what they are offering. I recommend 2 sets of coupons a week that way you have 2 for like buy one get one free deals..
So this week here is the deals i took part in!
Oreos were 2/$6 .. If you buy 4 stop & shop gives $4 off instantly.. So bought 4 got $4 off instantly so making them $8 then i had 2 $1 off 2 coupons making them 4 for $6...
Poptarts were $2 each had a coupon for $1 off 3 making them $5 for 3.
Thomas english muffins were bogofree.... Then I had $1 off 2 making it $3.19 for 2!
Sour cream was $1.67 then had $.55 coupon which doubles to $1.10 making each one $.57 so had 2 coupons so got 2!!!
Coupon.com had a $.75 off nature valley breakfast biscuit which is usually $3.19 on sale for $2.88 but the coupon doubled to $1.50 so making it only $1.38!!
The peanut butter poptarts on sale $2.50 each and coupon for $1 off 2 making them $4
Coffee mate creamer 2/$5 i had a register coupon for $1 off 2 and then manufacture coupon for $1.50/2 making it final price $2.50 for both !
Milk was onsale for $2.69 then got $.75 back on ibotta....
So on the circulars are store coupons, this week was a free 6 pack of coke if you spend $25.. I also had a coupon for $1 off one 6 pack so i got the sprite for $1.50 and the coke free... Also had a bounty coupon that is usually $8.99 on sale for $5.99 store coupon brings it down to $3.99 and i had a manufacturers coupin for $1 off so making it final price of $2.99!!
So total of all coupon stuff out of pocket, was $28 !! Retail price was $62.92...
Hope that helps! If you have any questions please let me know!!!

Yesterday

So unfortunately i did not make the post yesterday because once we got back from dinner, i was completely exhausted. We had breakfast at the Galway hotel which was very good but was just a buffet.. We then headed towards Clonmacnoise which was very impressive and sort of depressing all at the same time. It is a burial ground, so now you can see why it was depressing. We continued our travels and stopped and saw the Trim Castle but only from the outside. We didn't want to take the time and money to see the inside. We then continued and unfortunately was too late to see Newgrange at Bru Na Boinne.... The roads were all messed and did not help us get there in time. We then headed towards Contarif but we did stop at Malahide Castle to walk the grounds and take some pictures. It is closed until the summer so it did not matter what time we got there! We arrived at the hotel which is the Clontarf Castle, and it is exquisite!!! We had plans to have dinner with a local cousin that lives here in Ireland. We showered and met up with him at 7:30.. We headed to a seafood restuarant called Hemmingways. It did not disappoint and it was so great seeing the roots of the Dohertys here in Ireland.. We came back to the hotel and i finally crashed and slept through the night!!!!

Cliffs of Moher

It was another traveling typical morning. Got up, showered, and headed out. This morning breakfast was just the leftover bread from last night.i got a couple of hours of sleep this morning. We headed out for our longest day of driving. Galway was the final destination today. We took the ferry which gave us a nice 20 min break of driving. I did not get out as I really felt horrible today, probably the worst I have felt so far. The biggest adventure yet was the Cliffs of Moher. It did not seem like it would be that bad but as soon as we left the parking area, I knew it would be a different story. By the time we got to the visitor center, I told Dave I needed to go in and get a hat to cover my ears because the wind was just brutal. I got a cute hat and we headed out. It was so cold and blustery. It was howling winds and sleet. Visibilty was quite poor due to the weather. At one point, the wind was so strong that Dave grabbed me because it was pushing me around and i really thought it was going to knock me over. Even Dave had a hard time walking in it, it seemed, you would walk but just not go anywhere. After walking around and being frozen, we went inside and got a cup of tea. We then started back on our drive and drove through the buron. It was pretty impressive. We arrived in Galway and we are staying right on the water. The wind is howling and I just felt to cold and chilled so much that we decided to stay at the hotel for dinner instead of going back into town. I had the irish stew and dave had the curry chicken along with au gratin potatoes. Dave went on an adventure to town on foot in the hunt of an atm while i stayed behind and took a nice hot shower. Dave got us hot whiskeys, now just laying in bed watching the wind and ocean.. Goodnight

One thing off the bucket list.. Kissed the Blarney Stone

We took our time leaving the hotel this morning..i adored that hotel.. Unfortunately it was another rough night of no sleep and a hard time breathing and coughing. I sound like a dying seal. After finally packing and leaving, we headed straight for Blarney Castle in Cork. We were only 8km from it ..we had breakfast at a little diner right near the castle. I had scrambled eggs, toast and tea. Dave had a full Irish Breakfast. We then went to visit the castle. It was everything i hoped it to be. We climbed all around inside and of course it was 100 stairs.. My legs are going to be steel when I get back from all the climbing... ever since i was little, one of the things on my bucket list was to kiss the Blarney Stone. Now that I was here, i was going to wimp out, I was coming up with every excuse under the sun of reasons not to do it.. While standing in line, I was like, I didn't come all this was to wimp out! I bit the bullet and did it!! It was scary as all hell. You lay on your back, bend backwards through a hole that you can see the ground and kiss the damn stone! Luckily there is a gent there holding onto your waist and Dave held onto my legs. Dave got an awesome pic of me doing it and there are two metal bars so if you slip, hopefully it does catch you, but trust me, it still was one of the scariest things I have done. Dave chose not to do it, he thinks its all hog wash which yeah I agree but i can honestly say I have done it, in fact I got a certificate saying I did it! We then headed towas Kilarney via the scenic route. We stopped along the way for some photos of which I can't wait to post. We then drove the Gap of Dunloe...HOLY CRAP.. We got absolutely stunning photos but the road was only wide enough for one car and a couple of times we had to share the rosd with oncoming traffic.scary.. I got some amazing pictures of sheep, views and waterfalls. On the way down, the drop was incredible and I told Dave not to let us fall of the edge or we would keep rolling all the way to the bottom and not make it out alive. Let's just say it was a pretty neat experience. We drove a bit of the Ring Of Kerry on the way to the hotel. We are staying at the Gleneagle which is ok, i miss last nights hotel so much. I stayed in the room to rest some as Dave went to go find a supermarket for dinner. We decided to have local cheese, bread and hard cider for dinner. There is a Bulmers (magners) hard cider that is apple and honey flavored and it is simply amazing. Going to rest a lot tonight, go watch Water for Elephants on my iPAD and hope to get some sleep tonight.. Off to Galway tomorrow and we plan on taking the ferry hehehe. Toodles.

More traveling

Today started out rough. Still not sleeping well and when i did finally wake up I could not breathe for anything. We went down for breakfast but I couldn't eat much because i just was so upset from being so sick. We asked at the front desk, and she told us of one pharmacy that was open on Sundays. We went there and the pharmacist gave me some liquid meds, and then picked up some menthol cherry GUM.. It is so weird but works. I then really needed to use a restroom and neither the pharmacy or the supermarket had one, so someone told me to go to the local church, it was just getting out so success!!!. We then proceeded to drive to Rock of Cashel. Unfortunately a lot of it is closed for renovations, but the views were stunning. We enjoyed the views then continued on to Cork. We checked into our hotel, The Ambassador and it is gorgeous.we have a city view room with fruit and bathrobes. We walked downhill all the way into Cork which is about a mle. We did some light souvenier shopping, stopped into a little joint and had some hazelnut white chocolate and some carrot cake. We continued walking, saw some sites including the Beamish Brewery. We stopped for dinner and i had an amazing cottage pie which was essentially shepherds pie. Dave had chicken fingers. It was a nice local joint and some good music. We walked back to the hotel which is all uphill hahah.. We got some drinks at the hotel dave got a Murphys and i got a hot whiskey. We came back up to the room, i took a hot shower to try and clear my chest, then climbed into bed to enjoy my hot toddy... Going to go try and get some sleep....
